Since the surrender of the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory on April 13, 2015, things are not looking good for Ndola and its people. Recently, mayhem was exposed when one of the employees ventilated his feelings on being a part of the Mafia owned ZPC. According to the employee, they were not offered salary for the month and were asked to continue with their work.
The disheartening news has left the fate of 700 workers in the ZPC undetermined. Nobody is sure whether they will be paid or not and irrespective of the working conditions, the workers are being forced to work under hazardous conditions. There have been instances where employees have seen customers bringing in cash to the cement factory. However, the same has been safely transferred to the bank account of the Ventriglias.
The Zambezi Portland Cement Factory has faced as a severe downfall in the month of April as it was first illegally taken over by the Ventriglias and now they continue to loot the remaining assets of the factory. Back in 2012, they were deported from Zambia on account of being a threat to the prevailing harmony in Zambia. This included reasons such as ill-treatment of employees and abuse of power. It appears that the Ventriglias have not learnt a lesson from their past activities and now they are looking forward to repeat the same. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is shattered to hear this news as it is the same workforce which he loved so much.
