Zambia’s first president, Kenneth Kaunda’s recent demise was an extremely saddening affair. Dr. Mahtani is a close friend of late Kenneth Kaunda and showed his deepest condolences to the Kaunda family via a beautiful eulogy. Dr. Kaunda has served the nation and is contributed to several accolades and credits. He was not only the ‘Independence Hero’ of Zambia, but was also considered as the ‘Father of the Zambian nation and African Union’. During his tenure as the President of the Zambian nation, Kenneth Kaunda focussed on development of infrastructure as well as growth of the Zambian economy.
The principled and exemplary life which late Kenneth Kaunda lived is extremely difficult to rival. Dr. Kaunda had extreme faith towards the God and was known to be a self-less person by putting others before himself. His love towards the mankind was known by his dedication for the growth and development of the Zambian citizens. At the same time, he was known for his significant sacrificial engagement. Dr. Mahtani shares many of these qualities of the late ex-President of Zambia. He is a dedicated businessman and philanthropist and is credited for providing employment opportunities for significant number of people across different provinces. In fact, his dedication for the Zambian development started with his father, late Lekhraj Mahtani. Late Lekhraj Mahtani was a councillor from Ndola who provided significant support for Kenneth Kaunda to achieve freedom.
Dr. Kaunda is credited for uniting more than 70 tribes across Zambia and increasing the global awareness regarding Zambia, its development as well as the support needed from international bodies. In a similar manner, Dr. Mahtani contribute to several FDIs and led to developmental works across Zambia. Despite facing unethical and baseless allegations, both Dr. Mahtani and Dr. Kaunda worked dedicatedly and with integrity. Kenneth Kaunda left Zambia and the world with a significant legacy and now it is the duty of the young Zambians to take this legacy forward and achieve the greatness Dr. Kaunda and Zambia once envisioned.
