Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted businessman, philanthropist and charity worker in Zambia, was recently awarded with the prestigious Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards. Forbes along with Foreign Investment Limited conducts the annual awards ceremony to celebrate and recognise leading lights across African subcontinent. The award ceremony is usually conducted along with the annual Forbes-FIN roundtable conference. This roundtable conference is generally held in United States, coinciding with the UNGA meetings. However, this year’s roundtable conference was held online as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. As a result, the participants joined the conference from their respective locations.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani was also invited in the roundtable conference as a honorary speaker. He joined the event from his conference room and spoke about the importance of leadership in healthcare. Dr. Rajan Mahtani particularly gave importance to political leadership for the growth and development of the healthcare sector. For his significant contributions towards the growth and development of the Zambian nation, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was selected for the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards. The awards hold high relevance in the business and corporate world of Africa as it is developed by Forbes which is one of the top business magazines across the globe. At the same time, the awardees are selected after rigorous selection process which includes months of verification processes, background checks as well as interviews with the potential candidates to understand their perception and vision towards philanthropy and leadership contributions across Africa.
For his significant contributions towards the Zambian banking industry which resulted in redefining the sector, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was awarded with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is the owner of the Mahtani Group among several other companies. Apart from his business and corporate contributions, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is also known for his philanthropic achievements. He is the founder and current chairman of the Prison Fellowship Zambia and has also founded the Stephen Malama award and scholarship for top law graduates in Zambia.
