The year 2022 is ending. Just a few months back in September 2022, the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards were announced for the year 2022. The award ceremony was held in the Demographic Republic of Congo. It is one of the most recognized and celebrated award ceremonies in Africa. The awards are given in conjunction with FIN (Foreign Investment Network) which is a globally recognized conference held during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. While this year’s ‘Best of Africa’ awards were presented in Congo, last year the awards were given virtually and members attended the event from their respective locations via YouTube Medium.
On this occasion, let us go back to 2021 when the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards were presented for the same year. One of the recipients of this award was Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted businessman, philanthropist and charity worker from Zambia. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the owner of several top companies in Zambia including Mahtani Group of Companies and Finsbury Investments among others. For his significant contributions towards the upliftment of the Zambian nation and its people, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was presented with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021. The awards are presented to leading lights in the field of politics, business, leadership, economy and leadership who have made significant and long-lasting contributions towards the growth and development of the Zambian nation and its people.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani is known in Zambia for his philanthropic and charitable contributions. His company Prison Fellowship Zambia (PFZ) was established more than three decades ago by Dr. Rajan Mahtani. It is a noted Christian Outreach Program that focuses on providing transparent criminal justice, fundamental human rights and basic human dignity for the people of Zambia. Yet, the most important objective of prison fellowship is bringing the prisoners closer to god and his teachings. As such, it was no surprise when Dr. Rajan Mahtani pledged full legal and regulatory support towards the decision by the Zambian President in which the latter plans to abolish death penalty completely.
