Dr. Mahtani & Zambia have shared a strong bond with each other for a very long time. Over the years, both have helped each other and have focused upon making major developments in Zambia and the rest of Africa. One of the key developments has been the Finance Bank of Zambia. FBZ has ensured that the locals continue to get access to banking facility and develop a habit to save money.
Development necessarily doesn’t mean that there has to be industries in every corner of the country along with heavy machineries that pollute the environment. Dr. Mahtani & Zambia, took the initiative of constructing a bio-ethanol plant in the Luapula plant through the aid of Mahtani Group of Companies and Sunbird Group. This plant will cost about US $ 150 million, but the most important factor behind the development of this plant is that it will offer employment to locals and will assist the development of the region through non-polluting means. Cassava, a widely accessible crop in the region of Luapula will be used as the basic input for the factory and the level of pollution from the plant will be as small as negligible.
Another development which has become noticeable is FBZ’s takeover by BancABC. Dr. Mahtani & Zambia understands the value of collateral development. This is why the sixth largest bank of Zambia, Finance Bank of Zambia, was takeover by BancABC bank. The combined asset valuation of the banks will cross US $ 400 million, thus, making it the largest commercial bank in Zambia. Moreover, with this takeover there will be an increase in employment rate as well. There would be a direct demand of 2, 000 employees and another 5, 000 employees will be employed through indirect sources.
To sum up, it can be regarded that Dr. Mahtani & Zambia have worked smartly to carry the burden of development on their shoulders.
