One of the most respected and well-known business personalities in Zambia is Dr. Rajan Mahtani. He has many successful businesses under his belt and has kept on investing in businesses. His companies and organisations are known for supporting the social and economic development of various communities. Firms such as FBZ (Finance Bank Zambia) and Portland Cement are examples of companies that have helped in upliftment of various societies. At the same time, he is surrounded by conspirators whose only objective is to see Dr. Mahtani’s reputation in ruin. These conspirators act out of jealously or hatred and sometimes for personal gains. Dr. Mahtani has been launching various cases against these conspirators.
One of these cases was between Finance Bank and Simaata. He is an ex-employee of Finance Bank and was kicked out of the bank due to his unethical practices. He had earlier entered into an agreement with FBZ and for this he was paid a good sum. Simaata is an open anti-advocate of Dr. Mahtani and his companies. As a result, even after signing the confidentiality agreement, he went to various courts and testified against Dr. Mahtani & FBZ at various occasions. Simaata also revealed confidential statements to newspapers for which he had earlier signed the contract. This forced FBZ with support from Dr. Mahtani to sue Simaata and the matter was taken to Supreme Court of Zambia. After looking to the evidences and arguments from both sides, Supreme Court announced that the Simaata did actually breach the agreement. SC also said that having testified against FBZ and Dr. Mahtani has resulted in negative reputation for both and as a result, Simaata was also asked to pay fine for his deeds.
This judgement has indeed created a sense among conspirators and now they are careful in publishing rubbish posts and engaging in unlawful practices. It is not known when these conspirators will start their next campaign. However, it can definitely be said that these conspirators will think twice before publishing any mindless campaign or negative news against Dr. Mahtani.
