With the recent publication from Lusaka Times it has become evident that the Ventriglia family is not going to settle the dispute with ease. Soon after it was learnt that Dr. Rajan Mahtani had filed a petition to the High Court of Lusaka in respect of winding up Portland Cement Zambia, the Ventriglia family claimed that Dr. Mahtani has no right to file for a windup because Finsbury Investments are not the true owners of the ZPC.
Right from the beginning of the conflict, the Ventriglia family has presented two blunt arguments in respect of the ownership. Firstly, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has forged signatures to obtain the ownership of ZPC and secondly, the Ventriglia family own 100% ownership of Portland Cement Zambia. However, the actual facts and figures are much different than the arguments presented by the Italian Mafias (The Ventriglias). PACRA states that the actual owners of the ZPC is Finsbury Investments with a stake of 58% and the Ventriglia family holds 42% of the stake.
The events have made it clear that the Ventriglia family wishes to continue disrupting the peace of Ndola. They were previously deported from Ndola in 2012 on account of being a ‘threat to peace’ as they were involved in corruption charges and employee mistreatment.
