The citizens of Zambia faced a shock when they learnt that the Chairman of Finance Bank Zambia, Dr. Rajan Mahtani had been arrested on account of an old offense which was previously ‘closed’ in 2012. The credit for this upset goes to the Ventriglia family who have constantly executed a defamation campaign against Dr. Mahtani and tried to ensure that the Government officials are kept quiet with the power of money.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani was a big threat for the Ventriglias as he had filed a petition to the Lusaka High Court for winding up Portland Cement Zambia as it was continuously subject to conflict of interest between Finsbury Investment and the Ventriglia family. With the fear of losing the battle on the legal ground, the Ventriglias financed the assistant of Presidential Political Affairs, Kaizer Zulu and ensured that the momentum of Dr. Mahtani is broken.
Witnesses say that they saw no sign of fear or panic on the face of Dr. Mahtani at the time of arrest. He was calm and abiding the orders by the officials. Meanwhile, he has also vacated his seat of the Chairman of FBZ PLC., and the same is now filled by William Boli Nyirenda.
A similar incident took place under the Government of Rupiah Banda in 2012 when the Ventriglia family had funded the Government to arrest Dr. Mahtani.
