Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is no doubt among the most respectable businessmen across Zambia. With the help of his international businesses, many foreign investments have landed in Zambia is last few decades. Yet, we keep seeing defamatory stories against Dr. Mahtani by the notorious Zambia Reports. For the world, he is a successful business as well as a philanthropist. However, Zambia Reports has always portrayed him as criminal. It has become a monthly habit of Zambia Report to twist an incident and portray it in a version that leads to Dr. Mahtani’s defamation. The harder question that arises from all of this is- Will Zambia Reports ever stop publishing these nuisances?
The latest event that caught the attention of ZR was a call made to Lamsaat by BancABC. It was made on behalf of the Finance Bank which is currently under the ownership of BancABC. Call was made to recover an amount in excess of USD 10,000,000 and interest. Clearly, any entity defaulting on such huge amount will attract consequences. While, it was a complete normal process between a banking organisation and its client/party, Zambia Reports turned the incident into a whole new story. In its issue, Zambia Reports claimed that the call to Lamsaat was actually made by Dr. Rajan Mahtani and he is secretly still operating the Finance Bank Zambia.
Any sane individual across Zambia will immediately understand the true intent of the scripted publications by Zambia Reports. If Dr. Rajan Mahtani really wanted to control the Finance Bank, why would he give it BancABC in first place? Perhaps Zambia Reports fails to showcase that level of common sense too, in its scripted articles. Dr. Mahtani handed FBZ to BancABC for a sum of USD 62 million dollars only because he wanted to expand his rest other businesses. This incident raises a very prudent question for every Zambian national. Will the common man of Zambia ever live in peace and safety? Especially when it’s Government ignoring everything and keeping its distance from serving justice. Time to ponder & act right.
